Description
AREX Rex 7.65S Pistol – French Police Import
This AREX Rex 7.65S is a Slovenian-made, French police import pistol chambered in 7.65 Browning / .32 ACP. Imported by Old Steel, this rare AREX variant was produced for French service use in a caliber that fit earlier French police sidearm requirements. The pistol comes with its original serial-number-matching box and is marked with French proof marks and discreet Old Steel Guns import marks on the underside of the frame.
AREX Rex 7.65S French Police Import
The Rex 7.65S follows the general AREX Rex Zero 1 service-pistol pattern, but is chambered for 7.65 Browning rather than 9mm. It uses a hammer-fired double-action / single-action system, manual external safety, steel slide, and aluminum frame with a steel locking block.
The pistol’s full-size frame, combined with the mild .32 ACP cartridge, gives it a notably controllable shooting character. This makes the model an unusual modern service-type pistol in a chambering more often associated with earlier European police sidearms.
Construction / Configuration / Pattern
The Rex 7.65S has an all-metal service-pistol layout with a steel slide and aluminum frame. The controls follow the AREX pattern, with a combined slide release / decocker arrangement and a manual external safety. The pistol also has black polymer grip panels, fixed sights, and a 4-inch barrel.
The design closely follows the SIG P226 style of operating layout and handling, while retaining AREX’s own control arrangement and safety configuration. The smaller 7.65 Browning chambering sets this variant apart from the more common Rex Zero 1 pistols chambered in 9mm.
Each pistol is all serial-number matching and comes with its original matching box. The pistols show French proof marks along with Old Steel Guns import markings placed discreetly on the underside of the frame.
Historical Context / Pattern Development
The AREX Rex pistol family was developed in Slovenia as a modern metal-frame service pistol line. The standard Rex Zero 1 became known for its DA/SA trigger system, aluminum frame, steel slide, full-length frame rails, and robust military-style construction.
The 7.65S variant occupies a more specialized place in that lineup. France had a long history of police and administrative sidearms chambered in 7.65 Browning, and older French municipal police regulations favored calibers such as 7.65mm and .38 Special before later expansion to 9mm. That background helps explain why a full-size modern service pistol would be produced in .32 ACP.
For collectors, this model crosses several fields at once. It is a modern AREX service pistol, a SIG-pattern European duty pistol, a French police import, and an unusual full-size .32 ACP handgun. That combination gives the Rex 7.65S more interest than a standard commercial Rex Zero 1.
