Description

German Winterhilfswerk donation badge from the 1935–36 WHW campaign. The front features a raised flaming sacrificial bowl with a swastika at its center. Gothic lettering surrounds the design and reads “Jeder opfert dann blüht Deutschland.” The dates “1935–36” appear along the lower edge. The light metal finish shows age-related toning, scratches, discoloration, and general surface wear. The reverse retains its horizontal pin and catch assembly. Please carefully review all photographs for the condition, markings, construction, and completeness of the badge.

The WHW 1935–36 Badge dates to the third Winterhilfswerk campaign in Third Reich Germany. The Winterhilfswerk organized large fundraising drives intended to provide winter assistance to Germans in need. Contemporary German newspapers document the opening of the 1935–36 campaign and its nationwide collection efforts. The reverse bears the maker marking “LAUER NÜRNBG.-BERLIN.” The Lauer name appears on numerous period German medals and badges. This example survives with a clear dated design, readable maker marking, and intact pin assembly. It represents a political and social-welfare fundraising artifact rather than a military award or combat decoration.
