Smith & Wesson K/L-Frame Round Butt Combat Stocks
These stocks are configured for Smith & Wesson K/L-frame round butt revolvers and represent the smooth Combat-style factory grip pattern. The early finger-groove profile gives the revolver a fuller hand-filling grip while retaining the round-butt frame configuration.
Construction / Configuration / Pattern
The grips are made from Goncalo Alves wood with a glossy factory finish and unusually strong dark grain striping. They are fitted with factory Smith & Wesson medallions and include the original grip screw.
The interiors show factory-style medallion washers, inlet machining, ink or stamp markings, and handwritten assembly or inspection numbers. Both panels appear to carry matching or related handwritten numbers, which is consistent with a matched factory grip set.
Historical Context / Pattern Development
Smith & Wesson factory Combat stocks became popular on K- and L-frame revolvers as a more hand-filling alternative to standard service stocks. The smooth Goncalo Alves pattern offered a classic factory appearance with improved handling, especially on duty, defensive, and sporting revolvers.
This set is best described as 1985 factory production, as evidence by the stamping on the inside.
Condition
Excellent overall condition. The glossy finish remains strong, with attractive wood figure and factory medallions intact. There are only scattered handling scratches, most noticeably on the exterior of one panel. The original screw is included, and the interior markings remain visible.
