Description
Chinese Factory 36 AK 75-Round 7.62×39 Drum Magazine
This Chinese Factory 36 AK drum magazine is an original 75-round 7.62x39mm steel drum for AK-pattern rifles. It is marked with the Chinese triangle 36 factory code and follows the rear-loading Chinese drum pattern used with Type 56, AKM, and compatible 7.62x39mm Kalashnikov rifles.
Chinese Factory 36 AK Drum Magazine
This drum is one of the better-known Chinese AK magazine patterns imported into the United States before later restrictions made original Chinese AK accessories more difficult to obtain. The rear-loading design allows the cover to open for cartridge loading with spring tension released. After loading, the winding key tensions the internal spring for feeding.
Construction / Configuration / Pattern
The drum uses stamped steel construction with concentric reinforcing ribs, a fixed feed tower, rear cover, winding key, latch assembly, and perimeter retaining clips. The rear face carries the triangle 36 factory mark, identifying it as Chinese Factory 36 production.
This is the standard 75-round 7.62x39mm Chinese AK drum pattern. It is intended for compatible AK-47, AKM, Type 56, and similar 7.62x39mm rifles. The compact round body gives it a different handling profile than extended box magazines, while the rear-loading system makes it easier to load than top-loading drum designs.
Historical Context / Pattern Development
Chinese AK accessories became common in the U.S. surplus market during the late Cold War import era. Among those accessories, the 75-round drum became especially recognizable because of its sturdy construction and practical loading arrangement.
Chinese drums differ from some other ComBloc drum types by using a rear-opening cover and winding key system. Factory-coded examples remain especially useful for collectors because the arsenal mark helps identify the production source.
Condition
Good surplus condition. The drum shows handling wear, light finish loss, small scratches, and scattered storage marks. The ribbed steel body, feed tower, rear cover, latch, and winding key remain present. The triangle 36 factory marking is visible on the rear face.
Overall, this is a solid original Chinese AK drum with honest surplus character and strong display value.
