German WWII Mothers Cross in Gold, with Original Presentation Box (Mutterkreuz in Gold)
An original German Mothers Cross in Gold, awarded by the Third Reich to honor mothers who had demonstrated exceptional merit by bearing and raising multiple children. Instituted in 1938, the award was part of the National Socialist regime’s efforts to recognize and promote family values.
The decoration is constructed of gold-toned metal in a cross-shaped design, featuring a central medallion with the profile of the German mother, surrounded by a laurel wreath. The obverse displays the signature enamel and gilt finish typical of the gold grade, awarded to mothers with eight or more children.
The award comes complete with its original presentation box, featuring a hinged lid, fitted interior, and original satin or rayon lining. The box remains intact and suitable for display, preserving the medal in its original presentation state.
