Original German WWII Luftwaffe Ground Assault Badge, with Presentation Box
(Erdkampfabzeichen der Luftwaffe)
An original example of the Luftwaffe Ground Assault Badge, constructed of silvered and patinated zinc, consistent with wartime manufacture. The obverse features an oval oak leaf wreath, joined at the base by a ribbon tie and surmounted by a silvered Luftwaffe eagle clutching a mobile swastika. Beneath the eagle is a stylized cloud motif, from which a lightning bolt descends to strike the ground, symbolizing ground combat operations conducted by Luftwaffe personnel.
The reverse displays correct period pinback hardware, consisting of a raised barrel hinge, vertical pinback, and flat wire catch, all indicative of mid- to late-war production.
The badge is accompanied by its original presentation box, finished in faux black leather. The case retains its brass pushbutton catch and opens to reveal a blue rayon lid liner with a fitted blue velvet insert. The case remains structurally sound and well preserved.
A desirable and complete Luftwaffe combat award set, combining a well-detailed badge with its correct original issue case, suitable for display or inclusion in an advanced collection.
