German WWII Knight’s Cross of the Iron Cross with Swords, with Original Presentation Case
(Ritterkreuz des Eisernen Kreuzes mit Schwertern, mit Etui)
An exceptional example of the Knight’s Cross of the Iron Cross with Swords, presented in its original period issue case. The decoration is constructed of silver with a non-magnetic alloy core, formed as a Cross Pattée with a blackened core set within a finely ribbed silver frame.
The obverse features the central Iron Cross with three applied oak leaves, with the six o’clock arm bearing the reinstitution date “1939.” The reverse six o’clock arm displays the original institution date “1813.” The twelve o’clock arm is fitted with an integral suspension loop, surmounted by the Swords clasp, correctly executed and proportioned. The set additionally includes two original attachment buttons.
The award is accompanied by its original presentation case, constructed with a wooden core and finished in a faux black leather exterior. The interior features a white rayon lid liner with intact hinge cover and a recessed black felt medal bed. The case closes securely via a functional metal spring catch with exterior stud release.
A high-quality exhibition piece, preserved in fine condition throughout, and a highly desirable example of one of the Third Reich’s most prestigious combat decorations, complete with its original case.
