Description
Original Wachpolizei Berlin Patch
This is an original period cloth insignia for the Wachpolizei Berlin, the Guard Police formation assigned to security and protection duties in the German capital. The Wachpolizei operated as a distinct organization, separate from the regular federal and state police forces, with responsibilities focused on guarding government facilities, public buildings, and other sensitive sites within Berlin.
The patch is executed on a grey cloth field with white embroidered text and a matching white border, consistent with known Wachpolizei Berlin insignia. The restrained color scheme reflects the utilitarian nature of the unit and the emphasis on visibility and identification rather than ornamental design.
Construction and materials are appropriate for official issue, with clean embroidery and a well-defined border. The patch shows light, honest wear consistent with age but remains in solid, displayable condition, retaining good color contrast between the grey background and white lettering.
Original Wachpolizei Berlin patches are considerably less common than standard Polizei or Landespolizei insignia, as the organization was smaller and more specialized. This example represents an authentic piece of German police history and is a desirable addition for collectors of German law enforcement insignia, Berlin-related artifacts, or postwar and Cold War–era German uniforms and equipment.
