Authentic U.S. M1917 “Doughboy” combat helmet, the standard steel helmet issued to American troops during World War I. Based on the British Mk I Brodie design, the M1917 was adopted by the U.S. Army to provide vital protection against shrapnel and debris in the trenches of Europe.
This example bears the distinctive red and white lightning bolt insignia of the 78th Infantry Division, known as the “Lightning Division.” The insignia remains clearly visible on the helmet’s exterior, marking it as belonging to one of the U.S. Army’s most active divisions during the final offensives of the war.
