Description

Original 1904 Pairpoint Silver-Plated Tea Urn (Samovar) — “Presented by Co. I. 7th Infantry”

This is an authentic early 20th-century Pairpoint Manufacturing Co. tea urn, crafted in 1904 and engraved with the historic inscription:
“Presented by Co. I. 7th Inf’ty.”

The urn, or samovar-style tea server, is constructed of quadruple-plated silver, denoted by the “PAIRPOINT MFG. CO. QUADRUPLE PLATE 380 1/2” marking on the underside — a hallmark of Pairpoint’s highest-quality production standard. The piece reflects the refined craftsmanship and formal presentation style typical of pre–World War I U.S. military gifts and commemoratives.

Standing on an ornate pedestal base with scrollwork handles and a fitted lid, the urn displays a soft aged patina, consistent with its 120-year history. The engraved dedication suggests it was formally presented to or by Company I, 7th Infantry Regiment, a unit with long-standing U.S. Army lineage dating to the 19th century.

The Pairpoint Manufacturing Company of New Bedford, Massachusetts, was one of America’s premier silverplate firms, known for producing presentation pieces for military, fraternal, and civic organizations. Their quadruple-plated ware — four times the silver content of standard plate — ensured durability and rich luster, even after decades of handling and display.

This urn remains a remarkable piece of regimental history, blending fine American silver craftsmanship with direct military provenance. A fitting centerpiece for collectors of U.S. Army memorabilia, antique silver, or presentation pieces from the turn of the century.
