Description
This is an original World War I German Prussian Officer’s belt buckle (Koppelschloss für Offiziere), finished in feldgrau (field gray) paint typical of the wartime period. Constructed of brass with a gray field coating, the buckle features the classic “Gott Mit Uns” (God With Us) motto surrounding the crowned Prussian state emblem.
Unlike enlisted men’s buckles, officer’s versions were more finely detailed and designed for private purchase. The feldgrau coating was applied to reduce shine and provide camouflage on the battlefield.
