Description
Original Richmond Foundry & Mfg Mk II Training Grenade
This is an original Mk II training grenade produced by Richmond Foundry & Manufacturing Co. during the World War II era. Used for instruction and drill purposes, these cast-iron bodies were made to replicate the standard Mk II fragmentation grenade in both form and weight but were designed specifically for non-explosive training.
The grenade features the correct segmented “pineapple” pattern body and retains its Richmond Foundry & Mfg maker marking, an important identifying detail for collectors. Condition shows surface wear and patina consistent with age and handling, with clear evidence of its use as a training piece.
Training grenades like this were essential for familiarizing troops with proper handling and deployment techniques while conserving live munitions. Surviving examples remain valuable to ordnance and WWII militaria collections, offering insight into both production and training practices of the period.
