Description
WW2 M1911A1 Light Brown Leather Flap Holster – SEARS 1942 Marked
This is an original WWII U.S. military-issue M1916 holster for the Colt M1911A1 pistol, produced by Sears Saddlery Company in 1942. Crafted from light russet brown leather, this is a classic early-war example—issued during the initial expansion of U.S. armed forces and prized today for its clean lines, clear markings, and honest service character.
The M1911A1 light brown holster follows the standard full-flap design adopted in 1916, featuring a brass stud closure, reinforced toe plug, and wide rear belt loop. The front flap bears a bold “U.S.” oval cartouche, while the back is crisply stamped “SEARS / 1942”—a clear and desirable marking from one of the smaller but high-quality government contractors during WWII.
The light brown leather shows attractive age patina and remains supple and structurally sound, with tight, original stitching throughout. The flap closes securely, and the interior still carries the form of a standard 1911 pistol. The early-war color tone is especially appealing to collectors, as most surviving examples have darkened or been refinished over time. This one retains the warm, natural hue typical of 1942 production.
Sears-produced holsters are less common than those made by Boyt or Enger-Kress, and this dated example makes an excellent pairing with any 1942 Colt, Ithaca, or Remington Rand 1911A1 pistol. A sharp and well-preserved original, ideal for both display and reenactor use.
Authentic, complete, and 100% WWII G.I.—a standout piece from early U.S. wartime production.
