WW2 M1911A1 Brown Leather Flap Holster – Boyt 1942 GI Marked

This is an original WWII U.S. M1916 leather holster for the Colt 1911A1 .45 caliber pistol, manufactured by Boyt Harness Company and dated 1942—the first full year of American wartime production. Constructed from rich russet brown leather, this is the early-war style favored by both Army and Marine Corps units before the shift to darker finishes later in the war.

The holster features the classic full-flap military design with a brass stud closure, contoured body, toe plug, and broad rear belt loop. The front flap bears a bold, sharply struck “U.S.” in oval cartouche, and the back is clearly marked “BOYT / 42,” making this a well-documented early WWII production example. The “42” date is sought after by collectors as it corresponds with the ramp-up of U.S. combat deployment, particularly in the Pacific theater.

The leather remains in excellent original condition, with deep, even patina, tight stitching, and no major damage or softness. The flap and strap close securely, and the body retains the form-fitting profile of the 1911 pistol. Subtle soldier-applied G.I. markings are visible on the reverse belt loop area—typical of issued holsters and adding real combat character.

Perfect for matching with a 1942-dated Colt, Remington Rand, or early Ithaca 1911A1 pistol, this holster represents one of the earliest wartime Boyt contracts, produced before wartime leather darkening became widespread.

A sharp, well-marked, and fully functional piece of U.S. WWII combat gear.
