Description
WWII German Luftwaffe Dress Dagger – 1st Model (Early Pattern)
This authentic 1st Model Luftwaffe Dress Dagger dates to the earliest years of the Third Reich, adopted shortly after the Luftwaffe’s official formation in 1935. Distinguished by its heavy nickel fittings, blue leather-wrapped grip and scabbard, and bold upturned crossguard, this early-war dagger represents the original officer’s pattern before the introduction of the sleeker 2nd Model in 1937.
The blade is a finely polished, double-edged example—bearing maker marks from top-tier Solingen firm, Eickhorn. The upturned winged crossguard features the early Luftwaffe eagle with sharply defined details, and the pommel cap shows the classic swastika-in-wreath motif. This model was worn with the Luftwaffe’s service and walking-out uniforms and remains a powerful emblem of prestige within the air force’s officer corps.
This dagger retains its original blue leather-wrapped scabbard with pebbled panels and integral nickel fittings, along with correct dual suspension rings. Its robust construction and heavier profile distinguish it from later variants and make it a standout addition to any WWII German edged weapon collection.
Highly sought after by militaria collectors, the 1st Model Luftwaffe dagger reflects the transitional elegance of early Third Reich dress pieces—crafted with quality, weight, and ceremonial purpose.
