Description
This is an original WWII German military-issue holster for the Walther PP or Mauser HSc, constructed from brown leather with rich patina and multiple period-correct markings. This example is especially desirable due to its triple-identified origin: maker-marked, depot-marked, and arsenal-coded.
The holster is built in the typical compact military style, featuring a full flap with stud closure, an internal magazine pouch, and a single wide belt loop made from pigskin leather—a material frequently used later in the war due to leather shortages. Beneath the belt loop is a clear “LZA” stamp, signifying Mauser Werke AG, Werk Karlsruhe, and tying the holster directly to wartime Mauser sidearm production.
Inside the flap is a sharp “Franz Cobal, Berlin” maker’s stamp, and on the underside of the flap, the marking “B.A.XI” indicates assignment to Bekleidungsamt XI (Clothing Depot XI), located in Wehrkreis XI (Military District XI), headquartered in Hanover.
The brown leather shows honest service wear with tight stitching, no rot or major damage, and strong character. The strap and flap closure remain functional. These brown military holsters are scarcer than their black counterparts and were commonly paired with both commercial and military contract pistols during mid-war years.
An exceptional match for a Walther PP or Mauser HSc, especially one sourced from Army or Polizei units.
Original, complete, and correct—an increasingly hard-to-find depot-marked brown holster.
