Description

This Heer enlisted/NCO winter field cap is an excellent and authentic example of late-war German cold-weather headgear, designed to provide practical insulation and durability in harsh Eastern Front conditions. Constructed from field-grey wool, the cap’s exterior reflects the standardized winter uniform color adopted by the German Army, showing the appropriate wear and service patina expected of a 1943-dated piece.

The cap features rabbit-fur–covered ear flaps, a key component of the winter issue design. These flaps could be worn down for maximum warmth or tied up using the original drawstring, still present, to improve mobility and hearing during field operations. The fur remains in good condition for its age, displaying natural aging yet retaining its structure and effectiveness. Affixed to the front is the correct silver-finished metal Heer eagle, firmly mounted and consistent with issued NCO and EM winter caps of the period.

Inside, the cap is lined with green cotton, the standard material used in mid- to late-war production for warmth retention and manufacturing efficiency. The interior carries a clear 1943 stamp, confirming wartime manufacture during a period when German winter gear was issued in large quantities for fighting on the Eastern Front. The lining shows honest service wear but remains intact, with stitching and construction fully consistent with period manufacture.

This WWII German Heer NCO/enlisted winter field cap stands as a highly collectible piece of frontline cold-weather gear, offering complete authenticity in materials, insignia, and construction. Its combination of field-grey wool, rabbit-fur ear flaps, wartime-applied Heer eagle, and original 1943 stamp make it a noteworthy addition to any collection of WWII German uniforms or winter equipment.
