Description
This is an original 1940-dated German police holster for the Sauer & Sohn Model 38H pistol, manufactured by Kern Klager & Cie of Berlin. Crafted from black leather and bearing a clearly stamped Waffenamt acceptance mark alongside the full manufacturer’s designation, this holster is a textbook example of early-war German police-issue gear.
Unlike Wehrmacht-issued holsters, this variant was made specifically for police units and follows a distinct construction pattern: a single wide belt loop on the back (rather than the more common twin-loop setup), a full flap with stud closure, and an internal magazine pouch. The leather is in excellent condition for its age—firm, smooth, and well-stitched, with a fully functional closure strap and intact spare mag pocket.
The Waffenamt stamp confirms official acceptance into service, and the presence of the full maker’s mark further situates this Model 38H police holster within the early-war production window—before numerical code markings became the norm. This holster would have been issued with a Sauer 38H sidearm, widely used by Reichspolizei, Ordnungspolizei, and security forces throughout occupied Europe.
A scarce and highly desirable piece of original German field gear, particularly in this well-preserved, fully marked configuration.
