Description
This is an authentic Imperial Japanese Military Bugle dating from the Second World War. It can be positively identified as a WWII-period example by its distinctive Bakelite mouthpiece and the large clamp with wing nut used to secure it in place.
Constructed of solid brass, the bugle remains in good overall condition and is still playable. It shows typical signs of field use, including dings and dents—most notably along the side of the bell—which add to its historical authenticity.
During wartime service, each branch of the Japanese military could be identified by a colored sash with tassels, attached to the bugle via the two large inner rings (for example, red for the Army). Unlike postwar or modern reproductions, this period piece features no valve on the front edge, confirming its WWII manufacture.
A very scarce and desirable artifact from the Empire of the Rising Sun, this bugle represents both the ceremonial and practical traditions of the Japanese armed forces during World War II.
