Description
An original WWII German P38 black leather holster, dated 1944 and maker marked, presented in very solid, service-used condition.
The holster is clearly stamped “bta 1944” and It bears a crisp Waffenamt WaA 159 acceptance stamp, which denotes inspection and military acceptance by the German ordnance office and specifically corresponds to manufacture by E. G. Leuner, Bautzen. All stampings remain sharp and clearly legible, reflecting minimal degradation over time.
The large “P38” marking is stamped on the rear of the holster, in line with the belt loops. This placement is correct and consistent with late-war production holsters intended specifically for the Walther P38 service pistol.
The leather remains pliable and well-preserved, with tight, intact stitching throughout. There are no cracks or tears, and the overall wear is consistent with issue and light field use. Edges and high-contact areas show honest handling wear, but the structure of the holster remains firm and serviceable.
Overall, this is a strong, original 1944-dated P38 holster with correct maker code, Waffenamt acceptance, and proper rear P38 designation—an excellent example for completing a wartime Walther P38 rig or enhancing an advanced German WWII leather equipment collection.
