Description

Original U.S. WWII M1 Garand Oversized Cutaway Classroom Trainer

Offered is an original oversized cutaway training model of the U.S. M1 Garand semi-automatic rifle, used in classroom instruction to demonstrate internal parts, cycling, and function. This large-format demonstrator measures approximately 7 feet (84 inches) overall, providing clear, viewable detail for group training and museum interpretation.

The display is built to illustrate the Garand’s operating system: the receiver and action components are represented in machined metal, while the stock and forend are crafted from lightweight wood for ease of handling. The cutaway exposes the bolt, op-rod, gas system, follower, and magazine/clip feed path.  Fastening hardware and pivot points are intact and function as intended for demonstration use.

Condition is good for a classroom piece of this age: the demonstrator shows handling marks, scuffs, and expected surface wear consistent with instructional use, but all major components remain present and serviceable for display or teaching. This is not a functioning firearm and is offered solely as a visual training aid and museum exhibit.

Oversized cutaway models like this were widely used in military schools, armories, and technical classrooms to teach armorer procedures, field stripping, and basic small-arms mechanics. As an educational artifact, it serves both interpretive and decorative roles—ideal for museums, reenactor displays, shooting lodges, or collectors of training aids and ordnance ephemera.
