Original M1D Garand Scope Mount – U.S. Military Sniper Rifle Part

This is an original M1D Garand scope mount, designed to accept the M84 sniper scope and issued with U.S. Army M1D sniper rifles during the Cold War and Korean War era. Built to U.S. Ordnance specs, this offset mount attaches securely to the integral scope block on M1D barrels—enabling the M1 rifle to remain clip-fed while equipped for precision fire.

The M1D program was the U.S. Army’s primary sniper solution from 1951 into the early Vietnam era, repurposing the battle-proven Garand for scoped use. Unlike the earlier M1C variant, the M1D’s mounting system was simplified and more robust, using a side-mounted clamp and alignment pin to ensure a stable and repeatable zero. This design required a specialized M1D barrel with a welded scope base, making the correct mount essential for proper function and authenticity.

This example is a U.S. GI scope mount, not a reproduction. It features the correct phosphate finish, offset profile, and original markings as issued. Includes the clamping screw and retaining hardware, ready for mounting with a properly equipped M1D barrel and M84 scope (not included). Perfect for completing a CMP M1D, restoring a decommissioned sniper rifle, or assembling a historically accurate tribute build.

Due to limited postwar production and decades of attrition, genuine M1D mounts are increasingly hard to source. This is a key component for collectors focused on U.S. sniper rifles of the Cold War period.
