Original German WWII Aluminum Fitted NSFK Glider Pilot’s Dagger by Rare Maker F. & A. Helbig with Scabbard
The National Socialist Flyers Corps (Nationalsozialistisches Fliegerkorps; NSFK) was a paramilitary organization of the NSDAP, founded on 15 April 1937 as the successor to the German Air Sports Association. During the interwar years, when the Treaty of Versailles prohibited Germany from maintaining an air force, the Air Sports Association functioned as a covert means of preserving aviation skills. With the formal establishment of the Luftwaffe, the NSFK assumed a new role, structured closely along the lines of the Sturmabteilung (SA) and comparable in function to the National Socialist Motor Corps (NSKK). Like other party organizations, the NSFK issued ceremonial weapons to promote discipline, identity, and loyalty among its members.
Presented here is an early production NSFK Glider Pilot’s Dagger, complete with its original scabbard and belt hanger. This example shows light to moderate service wear, developing a desirable and even patina consistent with careful period use. It is a later-style configuration, fitted almost entirely with aluminum components, either painted or finished in a matte/brushed tone. The three-stage pommel cap remains crisp along the edges, showing only minor dents and surface marks from handling.
The blade is in very good condition, retaining a largely bright surface. The original factory-beveled edge remains intact, with no evidence of post-manufacture sharpening, indicating respectful use and preservation.
Overall, this dagger represents a well-preserved and historically significant example of NSFK ceremonial equipment, suitable for advanced collections or institutional display documenting German paramilitary aviation organizations of the Third Reich.
