Description
The 1940s German Nora K42N is an exceptional example of WWII-era field communication and soldier-support equipment. Built by Nora-Radio GmbH for the Luftwaffe, this tube-powered set is a true Truppenbetreuungsempfänger—a troop-entertainment receiver designed to bring news, music, and broadcasts to German personnel stationed across Europe. Its role in maintaining morale makes it one of the more historically meaningful portable receivers of the period.
The K42N variant is particularly noteworthy for its dual-power capability, able to operate from standard mains power or external battery supply, giving Luftwaffe units reliable reception whether in barracks, field positions, or remote airfields. Housed in its distinctive wooden portable case, the set was engineered for durability and ease of transport.
The Nora K42N provided wide tuning range and strong performance through its multi-tube architecture. Today, surviving examples are prized for their craftsmanship, wartime provenance, and rarity—standing as authentic artifacts of German military broadcasting technology and frontline life during the Second World War.
This example is particularly noteworthy for being in excellent condition. The graphics and instructions are complete, showing normal signs of aging, and the plywood case has minimal finish loss and delamination. The speaker mesh exhibits typical signs of aging and is intact and not sagging. While the door does have a crack it and latch assembly remains operational. The sliding vent grate still slides in its tract easily, and well as the architecture retaining many of its components. The left side of the composite face plate has a cracked and has not retained all its original mass. This is your chance to own an exceptional condition piece of history.
