Description
This is an original 1944-dated German police holster for the Mauser HSc or Walther PP pistol, produced by Gustav Genschow & Co. of Altstadt-Hachenburg. The holster bears the wartime manufacturer’s code “jhg 44”, which is located beneath the flap-style retention strap. No Waffenamt is present on this example—typical for late-war production runs where inspection markings were increasingly omitted.
Constructed from black leather, this holster follows the simplified pattern used for police and auxiliary issue during the final year of the war. It features a full flap with stud closure, a single wide belt loop on the back, and an internal magazine pouch stitched into the body.
The leather remains solid and well-formed, showing typical age and service wear. The retention strap is broken at the point where it would slip over the steel stud, a common failure point in wartime soft leather. The maker mark under the strap remains clearly legible.
Designed for compact .32 ACP pistols like the HSc and Walther PP, this piece is ideal for collectors looking for an original, marked example of late-war German police gear. It also reflects the material and quality shifts seen as the war neared its end.
All original. No postwar markings. Not a reproduction.
