Description

This is a rare and original late-war Mauser HSc holster, manufactured during the final phase of WWII using compressed paper (Presstoff) in place of traditional leather. As Germany faced increasing shortages of raw materials, especially leather, the use of ersatz components like this became standard across many auxiliary gear items.

This example features a fully stitched compressed paper body with a single leather retention strap, which remains supple and fully intact. The body shows the expected late-war pattern—thin profile, minimalist flap, and no internal spare mag pouch. There are no maker markings, Waffenamts, or dates, which is correct for these late-war emergency-production holsters. It’s most likely from 1944 or early 1945.

Despite the fragile nature of Presstoff, this holster remains in remarkably good condition, with firm structure, clean stitching, and no major tears or water damage. The belt loops are intact and tight. This pattern was commonly issued with late-war Mauser HSc pistols, particularly commercial models procured for the Wehrmacht or Kriegsmarine.

An exceptional example of WWII German ersatz field gear, this HSc holster represents both the ingenuity and desperation of Nazi Germany’s logistical tailspin. It’s a must-have for collectors focusing on late-war sidearms, auxiliary equipment, or economic production measures in the Third Reich.
