Offered is an authentic German wartime Gewehr-Zielfernrohr GW ZF4 (4×) optic, serial number 14465, maker-marked “dow” (Opticotechnica). This is an early, pre-1944 production example showing period body markings and finish associated with initial wartime runs.
The GW ZF4 was produced as the 4× optic for the Gewehr 43 (GW/ G43) rifle family. This scope is correctly identified as a GW ZF4 (for the G43) rather than the ZF41. The reticle is the pointed-post with horizontal bars type and is authentic to the GW ZF4 — the factory reticle pattern for this optic and confirmed correct for wartime GW ZF4 production.
