Authentic WWII Imperial Japanese Type 26 Revolver Holster

This is an original Imperial Japanese Army holster for the Type 26 revolver, dating to the Second World War. The holster is constructed of reddish-brown leather, retaining its original factory color rather than the darker shades often seen on later or heavily used examples. The leather remains notably pliable, an uncommon and highly desirable characteristic in surviving Japanese leather equipment.

The holster is fitted with correct early-style brass hardware, including the round suspension loops and the early pattern closure strap plate. The closure plate features the distinctive decorative groove around its edge, a detail associated with early production and also observed on some early Type 14 holsters. The brass fittings show only minimal oxidation and remain well defined.

The original leather retention strap is present and intact, with no cracking or repairs. The internal leather ammunition compartment is complete, properly formed, and firmly secured within the holster body, as issued. The interior is clean, further supporting the assessment of extremely limited use.

Overall condition is best described as near unissued. Wear is minimal and confined to the faintest handling marks, with no significant scuffing, deformation, or deterioration. The holster retains excellent shape and structural integrity, with tight stitching throughout.

Original WWII Type 26 revolver holsters in this level of preservation are increasingly scarce, particularly examples retaining original early-pattern fittings and supple leather. This holster represents an outstanding example of Imperial Japanese Army sidearm equipment and would be a strong addition to any advanced collection of Japanese militaria or WWII handgun accessories.
