Authentic Waffen-SS M40 Single Decal Helmet — Size 66 Shell, Marked 3540 / c 166
Presented here is an authentic WWII Waffen-SS M40 pattern helmet, an outstanding example of German wartime combat headgear. The helmet features a single SS decal on the left side, a late-style rune consistent with late-war field applications.
Stamped 3540 and c 166 on the interior skirt, the shell is a size 66, fitted with an original liner sized 58–59. The liner system is the correct M31 suspension with 8 leather panels each with 5 holes, seated in an early aluminum liner band, which is less common in mid-war M40 production. The helmet also retains the correct 40/42 pattern D-ring chinstrap fittings, further supporting its authenticity and placement within the transition period of wartime issue.
The exterior retains period field finish with honest wear, showcasing the history of service while maintaining structural integrity. The decal, though showing age and handling wear, remains legible and consistent with wartime application methods.
