Description
Third Reich NSDAP Standard Bearer’s Gorget, RZM M1/14
An original and well-preserved example of a mid-WWII German National Socialist German Workers’ Party (NSDAP) Political Leader Standard Bearer’s Gorget, manufactured by Matthias Oeschsler & Sohn, Ansbach, marked RZM M1/14.
This gorget was worn by NSDAP Standard Bearers to denote rank and authority during meetings, parades, and ceremonial formations, clearly identifying the wearer as the individual responsible for carrying the party standard or flag. Similar gorgets were also used throughout the NSDAP organizational structure for other political leaders.
The gorget is constructed of bronze and bronzed aluminum, with a large NSDAP Reichsadler (Party Eagle) in the center, encircled by an oak leaf motif along the border. Both clips on the reverse are marked with the RZM (Reichszeugmeisterei) insignia and the maker code M1/14, confirming manufacture by Oeschsler & Sohn. The original light green felt protective liner remains intact, showing minor staining and wear consistent with age but no significant damage.
Suspended from a bronzed and gilt aluminum chain, the gorget features alternating panels displaying wreathed swastikas and eagle insignias, each panel also marked with the RZM M1/14 on the reverse of the end panels.
Overall, the gorget is in very good condition, with light wear on the obverse plate. NSDAP Standard Bearer gorgets of this type are among the rarest and most desirable examples of German WWII political regalia, making this a highly collectible piece for advanced militaria collectors.
