Description
Wehrmacht Feldgendarmerie Gorget (Ringkragen für Feldgendarmerie)
An original example of a Wehrmacht Feldgendarmerie Gorget, issued to military police personnel of the German Army during World War II. The gorget is constructed of silvered zinc alloy reinforced with a partial magnetic metal core for structural stability.
The obverse features a central raised Wehrmacht eagle clutching a wreathed mobile swastika, positioned above a pebbled banner bearing the raised inscription “FELDGENDARMERIE”. The banner is flanked by pebbled buttons on either side, all executed in zinc and coated in phosphor, providing a glow-in-the-dark functionality for visibility under low-light conditions.
This gorget exemplifies the distinctive design of Feldgendarmerie accouterments, combining functional utility with symbolic authority, and was worn over uniform tunics to clearly identify members of the military police.
A historically significant piece, well-preserved and representative of German WWII military police regalia.
