French Manurhin MR88 38 4 in Barrel 38 Spl Double Action Police Revolver

Up for auction is a French made Manurhin MR88 chambered in 38 special. This fantastically well built french revolver is a fairly rare bird here in the US since not many of them were imported in the past. The particular revolver is a stainless steel finished French police surplus gun that doesn’t seem to have been used that much since the barrel is in amazing shape. This finely tuned machine features a 4 inch barrel with a covered cylinder rod, and raised adjustable target style sights. The double action is buttery smooth and the single action is light and crisp. The revolver also features a very distinctly French Trausch grip, which is designed to make the hand ride up higher on the backstrap of the revolver and mitigate recoil better than a standard grip. The revolver features very discrete french proof marks and OSG import marks on the underside of the barrel where it meets the frame. Also comes with an original Manurhin box.
Manurhin, officially known as Manufacture de Machines du Haut-Rhin, in Haut-Rhin, France started by manufacturing Walther PP, PPK, and PPK/S model pistols in 1952. The guns were imported into the US from 1953 by Tholson Co. and from 1956 by Interarms. In 1984, Manurhin imported their new models directly; they were marked Manurhin on the left front slide assembly. This differs from the previous Walther stamped guns. No Interarms logo appears on the right side. In 1998, Chapuis Armes purchased Manurhin, and began manufacturing new revolvers at the new Manufacture d. Armes de tir Chapuis facility located in Saint Bonnet Le Chateau, France, using the original Manurhin Equipment 1972–1998, located in Mulhouse, France.
