This is a E.G Lamson of Windsor VT Ball’s Patent Ball Repeating Carbine. This rifle was issued to the US Army in 1865. There were 1002 of them made. They are .50 caliber and chambered in the .56-50 Spencer rimfire cartridge.

Metal Condition: Factory finish is intact and shows wear consistent with the age and type of rifle. The bulk of the finish has gone over to patina, and there are dings along the top of the barrel. Some minor surface rust is present on butt plate.

Stock/Grips Condition: Stock appears original and never refinished. There are a number of wear marks consistent with the type. The right side of the forend is cracked. There is large dent in the front of the forend.

Bore: Bore reflects light. Shows evidence of being fired. Rifling is sharp. Small pitting evident.

Action: Functions as designed.
