Approved with the 1832 regulation and it resembles a Roman gladiator sword. It theoretically was intended as a last line of defense for the artilleryman, but more practical use was the whacking of weeds and brush to prepare an artillery placement. Standard features include a brass handle with eagle cast on the pommel, cast fish scales for the grip, blade has two fullers stopped with the ricasso on the upper blade, and single fuller on the tip, scabbard is leather with brass mountings. Sword was manufactured by NP Ames, Springfield, Massachusetts. Mark on the ricasso: "N P AMES / SPRINGFIELD" and "UNITED / STATES / 1836. Additional inspector marks on handle, ORD. HKC Mark.Blade length 19in. Condition is great for the age, with the original belt and scabbard which are hard to find especially in good condition. Very old and interesting sword! An e-mail with payment, ffl, and shipping information will be e-mailed to the winning bidder. No shipping to non-ffl p.o. boxes, including non-ffl items shipped to individuals. We will only ship to an individual's physical address. We can ship ffl items to an ffl with the p.o. box listed on the license. We will only ship ffl items to licensed ffl dealers, and will verify all licenses before shipment. Packages will be shipped through the us postal service (usps) using priority mail with insurance included and a tracking number. Ammunition will be shipped via ups ground with insurance and a tracking number as well. For firearms we will only ship to the address listed on the ffl license. All non-ffl items that requre the buyer to be over 18 will require an up to date copy of your government issued photo id. If the name on your photo id does not match your gunbroker contact information we will not ship the item. Our shipping and handling cost is normally a flat rate of $28.00 for handguns and $38.00 for long guns. Shipping cost of other items will be priced accordingly. Shipping costs may require adjustments due to insurance, included accessories, or destination (such as customers in alaska or hawaii). The shipping cost will always be clearly posted on the auction. We do combine shipping on packages if you purchased more than one item.
