Soviet Army officer's dress dagger with hangers 1950s


Gilded brass hilt fittings are in good condition and retain most of the gilting to the pommel cap, pommel and to the crossguard. Light orange celluloid grip shows some use. Double-edged blade is complete with black leather buffer pad. The scabbard is in good condition with light wear. Obverse upper fitting is etched with Soviet Star and sunburst with reverse depicting the Kremlin.

This is one of the last Soviet Army daggers ever produced. The 1958 change in uniform regulations made further production of army daggers largely unnecessary: from that point on, Soviet Army (and Air Force) officers would wear a dagger only for special occasions and as a rule, wouldn't permanently own one. Complete with a scabbard and a set of vintage hangers.
