A very nice set of Swiss M.1817/42(/59) Rifles. They were converted by the Swiss to the M.1842 standard, and one was further upgraded to the M.1859 model. They both have a low S/N of #217. The earlier one has a nice Swiss shield stamping next to the S/N. The other has “BF” inspector stampings on almost all parts. This very rare set is an excellent chance to add a unique set to your collection!.

Metal Condition: All the metal is in the white with some light wear. Amazing they survived so well over the years. Stock/Grips Condition: The stock of the early rifle has a carved cheek rest with “CC217” engraved into it. It shows normal wear. The other stock is in very good shape. The wood is smooth with light handling marks. The wood has pinholes in it, but no other issues. A truly beautiful sight to see. Bore: No bulges, cracks, splits, or other issues were found. Action: The lockwork is fully working on both rifles. A sign of the craftsmanship of them both. Included Accessories: And original, two piece ramrod comes with the early rifle. We will only sell to buyers in the US (the 50 states). No Canadian or international buyers. We will not end auctions early for internet sales. We operate a gun shop and reserve this option for walk-in customers only. Payment arrangement is required within 5 days. All of our antique firearms (mfg BEFORE 1 Jan, 1899) and blackpowder guns require proper government identification (ie: a drivers license or government issued photo ID) to purchase.

Shipping Information

Attention---------California residents: sales of modern guns to california must be compliant with California law. In reference to the California penal code section 12072(f)(1), sales of guns can only be shipped to an FFL that can provide a shipment code and is able to receive the firearm.


An e-mail with payment, FFL, and shipping information will be e-mailed to the winning bidder. No shipping to non-FFL P.O. Poxes, including non-FFL items shipped to individuals. We will only ship to an individual's physical address. We can ship FFL items to an FFL with the P.O. Box listed on the license. We will only ship FFL items to licensed FFL dealers, and will verify all licenses before shipment. Packages will be shipped through the US Postal Service (USPS) using priority mail with insurance included and a tracking number. Ammunition will be shipped via UPS ground with insurance and a tracking number as well. For firearms we will only ship to the address listed on the FFL license. All non-FFL items that requre the buyer to be over 18 will require an up to date copy of your government issued photo ID. If the name on your photo ID does not match your gunbroker contact information we will not ship the item. Our shipping and handling cost is normally a flat rate of $35.00 for handguns and $45.00 for long guns. Shipping cost of other items will be priced accordingly. Shipping costs may require adjustments due to insurance, included accessories, or destination (such as customers in Alaska or Hawaii). The shipping cost will always be clearly posted on the auction. We do combine shipping on packages if you purchased more than one item.
